WELCOME

We are experts at automating Microsoft Word for Canadian lawyers and law offices. We take pride in our ingenuity and proven ability to deliver affordable, high-quality solutions to meet the complex requirements of the legal profession. Our clients range in size from sole practitioners to large national law firms.

We are interested in helping you define and achieve goals to maximize your firm's computer technology investment.

Our current focus is Microsoft Word 2010. We continue to automate and support earlier versions of Word, and WordPerfect, for existing clients requiring that service.

CONSULTING SERVICES

The scope of our legal document automation projects ranges considerably. We provide consulting services to plan the entire Microsoft Word 2010 upgrade and/or conversion from WordPerfect. We also provide custom programming and development services to automate specific tasks.

A specific task may be something as simple as developing a single automated Word template with macros, form fields or content controls, or something as involved as a custom, practice-specific legal document assembly system.

Our service starts with us collaborating with your people to define your goals and create an automation and/or conversion plan. As necessary, we coach your people during the planning phase to enable you to make design decisions from an informed perspective. Although our goal is to leave you independent from us between projects, our service does not stop after your production release. We build long-term business relationships with our clients.

OUR PRODUCTS

Your document automation solutions may include one or more of our highly customizable software applications:

  • Adaugeo™ Macro Package for Microsoft Word

A collection of Word macros and Word templates for efficient production of legal documents and correspondence.

If you are now planning an upgrade to Word 2010, you may be looking at considerable expense in consulting fees to migrate custom Word macros and toolbars to the new Word ribbon interface. Depending on the complexity of your existing environment, you may find that implementing our macro package (already Word 2010 compatible and ribbon-enabled) is more cost effective than paying an hourly consulting rate to upgrade your existing solutions.

Our macro package is highly customizable via database settings and INI keys. System administrators need not be familiar with macro programming or XML coding to perform routine systems maintenance.

See our Word Macros page for details.
  • Adaugeo™ Numbering Software

An extensive suite of tools for creating, applying and managing numbered styles for legal documents.

See our Legal Numbering page for details.

Adaugeo™ Numbering forms part of our basic macro package, and we also offer it as a separate application for firms with pre-existing macro packages.
  • Practice-Specific Legal Document Assembly Applications

We offer practice specific document assembly for British Columbia litigation and residential conveyancing. See our Document Assembly page for details.

Those applications are semi-custom – we provide the assembly engine, the document coding language, and the data collection interface, but we do not provide precedents. You supply the precedents and we code them to your exact requirements.

We can suggest options for you to disburse the cost to your clients on a per-matter basis.

Firms using our litigation and/or conveyancing packages may also opt to license the document assembly engine for their own custom systems.

WORD TRAINING

We provide Microsoft Word training services to supplement our consulting services and software. We find that firms can better maximize their technology investments when the software developers are involved in the training. For small firms, we deliver the Word training ourselves. For large firms, we assist with training program development and training the trainers.

Due to advances in web conferencing software over the past number of years, we find that clients prefer to minimize their costs and IT time commitments by utilizing those tools whenever possible. We now do most of our administrator training and “train-the-trainer” training by web conference.

End user training for medium and large firms must be done at your site. Our smaller clients (1 to 20 user sites) have reduced their total implementation costs substantially by opting for on-line training for end users. We find that, in small groups, the end user training via web is more effective than the classroom setting. We take a maximum of three users per session for end-user web training in order that each user’s individual needs may be addressed.

DOCUMENT AUTOMATION IN THE LEGAL OFFICE

Your Firm's reasons for developing Microsoft Word may include:

  • Maintain your existing productivity levels after upgrading to the new Word 2010 ribbon interface.

While new Microsoft Word ribbon interface is truly a desktop publisher’s dream, it does present challenges for lawyers and legal support staff as to quickly accessing the basic features required for efficient legal document production.
  • Let lawyers who do their own word processing focus on the words rather than the process,
  • increase accuracy with practice-specific automated legal document assembly software,
  • improve the user-friendliness of the native software
  • quickly and easily generate legal documents and correspondence that meet firm standards,
  • reduce your staff ratios and/or overtime expense,
  • reduce training requirements by automating complicated tasks,
  • encourage your users to apply the Microsoft Word features in a way that promotes document stability,
  • enhance workgroup productivity by adopting standards for Word templates and styles, and making it easy for users to follow those standards,
  • importantly, avoid unnecessary maintenance overhead that can result from developing a shared environment strictly with the native features.
